Manages an examining unit that provides oversight and direction on the management of workers' compensation claims that meet dollar and non-dollar criteria for involvement of the Home Office Examining unit. This includes input and direction on reserving, coverage interpretation, case value and disposition strategies. Accountable for the development, tracking and analysis of metrics that measure quality, reserve adequacy, and other key objectives
Responsibilities:

* Develops and leads a management team and staff responsible for providing direction and oversight on high exposure claims.

* Develops and tracks performance towards meeting metrics that measure quality, reserve adequacy, and other key objectives. Accountable for the production, analysis and distribution of operational reports.

* Oversees the design, development, and implementation of claims technical training programs.

* Serves as a primary contact to Underwriting & Actuarial Departments on claims related issues. Communicates industry and jurisdiction specific information on trends & developments that impact exposure & profitability.

* Directs the on-going development and maintenance of examining policies, procedures and processes. Responsible for updating procedures and policies as required by market/company initiatives, case law developments, regulatory changes, and market conduct exams.

* Serves as a company representative on various industry groups and at trade conferences and meetings.


Requirements

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent training, plus a minimum of 10 years Claims or Legal experience.

* Extensive knowledge of commercial WC Claims handling practices, state regulations, and relevant case law

* Effective management and leadership with key manager in the Market Home Office and field claims departments
